All the way home

This Song was written by Larry Norman. My favorite Christian Artist of all time. This song was also a big favorite of my brother Anton Jacobs, and thought I’d honor Mr. Norman and my brother at the same time by recording it.

Anton (Tony), and I talked about someday doing some Larry Norman cover songs for a pet project. Unfortunately we never got around to it..

Anton Jacobs

Both Larry Norman and my brother Anton Jacobs went to heaven too early and both were giant influences in my life. Anton took me to see Larry Norman a bunch of times whenever Larry was in Southern California. I miss those days and hold tight the memories.

Anton giving me a push as he often did in life.

I hope you enjoy the remake of this song and arrangement as much as I enjoyed recording it.

Lyrics: All the way home

This life is hard and the road is long that leads me toward the light
Sometimes I trip and stumble in the night
My mind becomes so weary I just wanna lay down
But I got to keep on going ’til I reach the higher ground

Let this good life be the life I lead
Let my faith grow like a mustard seed
And let your love be all the love I need
To carry me all the way home

I’ve had my share of trouble as I’ve tried to walk this path
Sometimes it’s been so hard I’ve had to laugh
I’ve spent so many years in sorrow
Much of my life in pain
But that’s just the way it is, you get the sunshine and the rain

Let this good life be the life I lead
Let my faith grow like a mustard seed
And let your love be all the love I need
To carry me all the way home

Hoping to learn, every wrong turn is a step toward the past
Going astray, losing my way, but I found it at last

Let this good life be the life I lead
Let my faith grow like a mustard seed
And let your love be all the love I need
To carry me all the way home

Painting a Surfboard using Old School Techniques!

I saw an outdoor shower in the shape of a surfboard somewhere on the interwebs and wanted to do the same thing for our pool that we are having built. I saw some DIY ones that looked cool and even saw several super slick fancy pants Surfboard Showers at almost 3000.00. I wanted something in the middle that was more personalized.. and didn’t want to spend a ton of money in the process. This is a multi step process no doubt and am doing it on the weekends.

These steps are for the design and surfboard only.. the plumbing and mechanics for the shower itself will be a separate blog post.

Step one was to design a surfboard based on my liking. I wanted a classic 60’s/70’s vibe and wanted to personalize it in someway. I found a design online with a 70’s vibe and added an illustration my Dad did back from the 70’s. Not only does it have a classic look, it has a special personal meaning to me and my family.

Surfboard in its original condition
My daughter loves to help
Some bondo, sanding and primer
Painted tan with Krylon spray cans
Taping and masking off Indo Girl area
Came out pretty good for using canned spray pain
Printed illustration to-size and ready to transfer image using the graphite method
Trace over printed image and graphite on the back transfers to the masking tape below.
Cutting the lines with an exacto blade
Masking around image to reduce over-spray
Little bit of red paint
Taking off masking paper
Peel off tape to reveal the magic
Looking okay
Long board in comparison to someone 5’8″

List and Cost:

  • Surfboard: $50.00
  • Paint: $25.00
  • Sandpaper: $10.00
  • Bondo: $12.00

For the next step in the next Blog Post i’ll attempt the shower/plumbing and build out.. Here’s my current blueprint or initial idea of how it should be built.
